Origins & Legacy

A branch of the Chauhans, the Hadas carved out the kingdom of Hadoti. They are renowned for their artistic patronage and distinct school of painting.

Conquest of Bundi

Rao Deva conquered Bundi from the Meenas in 1241. The Hadas built the Taragarh Fort of Bundi, famous for its steep architecture and murals.

Split into Kota

In the 17th century, the kingdom was divided, leading to the formation of Kota state under Rao Madho Singh, favored by the Mughals for his valor.

Artistic Renaissance

The Hada courts became centers for the Bundi and Kota schools of miniature painting, famous for their detailed depictions of hunting scenes and nature.
