Aswapujan
Ritual Legacy

Aswapujan

"Acknowledges the crucial role played by horses like Chetak in the survival and victories of the clan."

The Essence

Aswapujan (Worship of the Horse) is a unique Rajput tradition performed on the ninth day of Navratri (Maha Navami). The horse was the Rajput warrior's most trusted ally in battle. Famous horses like Chetak (Maharana Pratap) and Natraj (Prithviraj Chauhan) are revered as much as the heroes who rode them.

Origins & History

Originating from the Vedic Ashwamedha Yagna, this tradition evolved into a personal bond between the rider and the steed. The Marwari horse breed, known for its endurance and loyalty, is central to this worship.
