The Queen Who Defeated Muhammad Ghori

The Legend

Nayika Devi was the queen regent of Gujarat who ruled on behalf of her young son Moolraj II. When Muhammad Ghori attempted to invade Gujarat in 1178, Nayika Devi personally led the Chaulukya army and defeated him in the Battle of Kasahrada near Mount Abu. This victory forced Ghori to retreat and delayed Islamic expansion into western India for years.
