The King Who Challenged Alexander

The Legend

Raja Porus was a king of the Paurava kingdom in the Punjab region who became famous for his heroic resistance against Alexander the Great in 326 BCE. He commanded war elephants and a powerful army in the Battle of the Hydaspes River. Despite being defeated, his bravery impressed Alexander so greatly that he was reinstated as king and even given additional territories.
