The Legend
Vigraharaj IV, also known as Vigraharaj Chaturth or Visaladeva, was one of the most powerful rulers of the Chahamana dynasty of Ajmer. During his reign in the 12th century, he expanded Chauhan influence across Rajasthan and northern India and captured Delhi from the Tomara rulers. He also pushed back foreign invasions from the northwest and established Ajmer as a major political and cultural center. Vigraharaj was not only a warrior but also a patron of literature and learning.
Early Life & Origins
Vigraharaj IV was born into the Chahamana dynasty of Ajmer and grew up during a time when Rajput kingdoms were consolidating power in northern India.
Eternal Legacy
He is remembered as one of the greatest Chauhan rulers before Prithviraj Chauhan and for establishing Chauhan dominance over Delhi.
